'It was hard to sleep' - Antony opens up about the aftermath of Manchester United pounding for Liverpool
Manchester United striker Antony has admitted it was hard to sleep after his team were humiliated by Liverpool.
The former Ajax man started at Anfield last Sunday as United suffered their heaviest defeat in their history before beating Real Betis 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The victory came after a week in which the media and pundits criticized Erik ten Hag's side for how they fell apart in the second half against Liverpool, conceding six goals.
The United forward spoke after scoring in the win over Betis at Old Trafford. Anthony said: "We suffered an extremely painful defeat and it was difficult to sleep that day. But in football you can't mourn the past. We know that this result is never acceptable.

Liverpool and Porto escape punishment after UEFA Youth League brawl
Liverpool and Porto escaped further sanctions from European football's governing body after their UEFA Youth League game ended in a mass brawl.
Young Reds reached the quarter-finals of the competition after Umare Cande missed a sudden-death penalty in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw at Liverpool's Youth Academy in Kirkby.
The home team's jubilant scenes quickly turned ugly when a brawl broke out involving almost every player on the field.
Cande and his Porto team-mate Gonçalo Ribeiro saw red cards, while Liverpool's Lewis Koumas was also sent off towards the end of the game amid chaotic scenes.
Both sides feared further sanctions from UEFA, but a report is outfootball insiderstates that it appears that no further action will be taken in relation to the incident.
However, Koumas will serve a one-game ban which will see him eliminated in Tuesday's quarterfinals against Sporting Lisbon.
Barry Lewtas' side received five yellow cards against Porto, meaning UEFA could still penalize the Reds for 'improper behaviour'.
Internacional are "approaching" Roberto Firmino - the report reads
The race to land Roberto Firmino on a free transfer at the end of the season has begun and a club from his homeland have seemingly thrown their hat in the ring.
UOLreports that Brazilian club Internacional have approached Liverpool and are "collecting information with a view to eventually starting negotiations".
But the same report showered cold water on his hopes for the number 9 as Firmino has "other plans" when he leaves the Reds.
Journalist Bruno Andrade says that Firmino is highly regarded in Europe and particularly in England and Germany. But he is also happy about offers from Spain, France and Italy.
But another Brazilian side, Corinthians, have also been linked with the 31-year-oldlocal reportsclaim the forward has already received "six firm offers" from teams in Europe.

The former Football Focus presenter says Lineker sent a message saying: "They [the BBC] told me I had to resign".
Walker also said Lineker intends to continue presenting Match of the Day and has no apologies, adding: "It is the BBC's decision to force you not to present the program at this time."
Ian Wright foregoes Match of the Day with Gary Lineker
Looks like a fast developing story. Ian Wright wasted no time in showing his support for Gary Lineker as he retired from tomorrow's match-of-the-day show.
What will happen next?

Gary Lineker will "walk away" to host Match of the Day
Some news this afternoon.
Gary Lineker is stepping down from hosting Match of the Day, the BBC has confirmed.
A statement from the company said he will not return to host the show until an agreement is reached on social media usage.
The move comes after Lineker was heavily criticized for his comments on social media about the government's asylum seeker policy.
A BBC statement said: "The BBC have had extensive discussions with Gary and his team over the last few days. We have said that we consider his recent social media activity a violation of our policies.
"The BBC has decided that he will no longer present Match of the Day until we have a clear and agreed position on his use of social media.
“When it comes to leading our football and sports coverage, Gary is second to none. We never said that Gary should be in a no-opinion zone or that he can't have an opinion on issues that are important to him, but we did say that he should avoid taking sides in party matters or political controversies."
Real Madrid have suffered many injuries ahead of their Liverpool clash, while Carlo Ancelotti admits it hurts.
Karim Benzema is expected to be fit for Liverpool despite being ruled out of the upcoming La Liga clash between Real Madrid and Espanyol.
The 35-year-old, who scored twice in the Spanish giants' 5-2 win at Anfield last month, missed training earlier this week with an ankle injury. The Frenchman has suffered repeated muscle injuries so far this season and was forced to withdraw from France's squad for the 2022 World Cup last year with a hamstring injury.
He has scored 18 goals in 27 appearances so far this season, despite notching an impressive six goals in just seven career gamesLiverpool.

Encouraging signs for Liverpool's game at Bournemouth tomorrow at lunchtime.
LeBron James is growing his fortune at Fenway Sports Group, part of a lifetime marketing deal he recently signed with the father of the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Penguins and Liverpool.
James, the highest paid athlete in the world, is a Liverpool supporter and owns part of the club alongside FSG.
Is Trento the best?
Former Arsenal full-back and Premier League winner Lauren believes Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best right-back in the world.
He saidsports lenses: “There are so many good right-backs out there. I really like Reece James at Chelsea and I particularly like Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid.
“England are lucky to have some really good right-backs at the moment too. They have Kyle Walker in Man City, Kieran Trippier is very good too. Especially the way he overlaps off the ball, he's very sure of the ball, he's good at set pieces and he's scored some fantastic free-kicks. But for me it's Trent Alexander-Arnold. He provides Liverpool with a lot of tactics and is crucial in how they want to bring the ball back.
“Usually Jordan Henderson is the one who drops into the right-back position to get the ball. It would be Alexander-Arnold who would sit out and expand the team.
“Not only can he deliver all the crosses, but he can also come in and dominate the midfield with incisive passes to create an extra man down the middle.
"Technically, he's excellent, he can score goals and people can criticize his defence. You can't be perfect at everything! In my opinion he is the best right-back in the world and the one I would like to have in my team."
Barcelona will accept the offer
AccordinglySport, Barcelona are ready to accept a £53m bid for Ansu Fati as the club look to raise funds for the summer transfer window.
Many of Europe's top clubs have expressed an interest in the Spain international and Liverpool are among them.
It will be interesting to see what will happen to Fati in the summer.
Klopp on Firmino decision
Jurgen Klopp spoke at his press conference about Roberto Firmino's decision to leave Liverpool after his contract expires in the summer.
The Brazilian informed Klopp of his decision last week as he intends to leave the club after eight years.
"Surprised? A little. Much respect. Normal in this long relationship we have. It's very special and I love the reception he got against Manchester United. He wants to bring this wonderful story to a positive end. The Music will be here." for a long time."
Luis Diaz back soon
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Luis Diaz is hoping to return to training with the first-team next week as he recovers from knee surgery in December.
Didi Hamann meets Real Madrid x Liverpool
Real Madrid beat Liverpool 5-2 in the Champions League round of 16 second leg but Didi Hamann doesn't think all hope is lost.
"Liverpool are on the verge of defeat after being beaten 5-2 by Real Madrid," he wrote in a column for theHeaven Germany. "But I don't rule out anything in football. There are few racquets that, once in motion, can unleash such force that the opponent barely reacts. Those clubs include Bayern, Liverpool and Real Madrid - all of whom have rejected games in every round over the past year.
"If Liverpool score three or four goals again after beating Manchester United 7-0 at the weekend in Bournemouth, they'll fly to Madrid and say 'why not?'
"Such a brilliant victory can do wonders for self-confidence. I don't think Liverpool will go through, but it's very unlikely."
Take part in our competition
Why not take a piece of history with you? Liverpool beat Manchester United 7-0 last Sunday - it's not something you say every day! The Reds have put their closest opponents on the edge of the sword and you could win the program of the round.
The program is out of print and fans want it as a reminder of United's humiliation, but you can win a copy here.
The competition ends on Sunday, so hurry up and win!
Starting eleven for tomorrow?
It's hard to see where Liverpool will make changes tomorrow after their 7-0 win at Man United, but one or two could be made.
Stefan Bajcetic could be called aside in place of Jordan Henderson as Jurgen Klopp tries to keep his captain fresh.
Hopefully the top three stay the same after scoring a total of six goals on Sunday, they all fly!
Praise from Cody Gakpo
Cody Gakpo's former PSV team-mate Yorbe Vertessen on Liverpool's signing: "[He was] the best player I've played with at PSV. The first goal he scored against Man United was typically Cody.
"Cut and go for the far corner. The second goal was also very well done. It was almost perfect. I'm happy for him that his move to Liverpool went so well."
LFC Player of the Month
Darwin Nunez was named Liverpool's player of the month in February after scoring against Newcastle and Real Madrid and helping in the win against Everton.
Nunez also scored a brace against Manchester United on Sunday. I know it was March but I like to remind everyone of Liverpool 7-0 Man United!
Congratulations to Nunez and we hope this good form continues!
Paul Scholes disagrees with former team-mate Gary Neville's claims that Liverpool's 7-0 win over Man United was a "deviation", as he told BT Sport on Thursday night: "First thing you learn in these big games , is when you lose the ball, you run back and get back into shape. You saw five or six of our advanced players come back.
"I don't like using excuses, but they felt broken. On Sunday I thought it was a bit of a bizarre game as Liverpool scored seven goals from eight shots on goal.
"But when your team is pushing like that and your strikers are refusing to run back, that's not a deviation because Liverpool and those great teams have so many good players that they can punish you if they do that.
"So it's not a freak show, it could actually happen. You could say they were a bit unlucky to score seven goals, but if you look at the performance, that probably wasn't the case."
Luis Diaz missed training yesterday after some reports from Colombia suggested he could line up for a return to the Reds squad in Bournemouth on Saturday.
Jürgen Klopp will be able to give an update on the striker at his press conference at 12 noon.
Leaving Mason Mount?
Chelsea face a summer battle for midfielder Mason Mount as both Liverpool and Manchester United look to add the star to their ranks.
The 24-year-old has been named Chelsea's player of the year for the last two seasons but it looks like his time at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end as he enters the final 15 months of his contract.
Liverpool are planning a £50m move for the England international as they plan their summer makeover.
Virgil hilft Gakpo
His compatriot Virgil van Dijk, who was instrumental in convincing Cody Gakpo to join Liverpool in January, was a source of great support. The couple live close together in Cheshire and Van Dijk has helped Gakpo establish himself on Merseyside and is sure to show up at his gigs now.
press conference coming up
Jurgen Klopp is set to speak to the media from 12pm today as he previews tomorrow's Premier League game against Bournemouth.
Klopp is set to offer an update on the squad following last Sunday's 7-0 win over Manchester United.
